US President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to visit Bangladesh as he exchanged greetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Islamic Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh on Sunday.
"Yes, I would come [to Bangladesh]," Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque told the American president.
Journalists after the summit, the foreign secretary said that the two leaders exchanged jokes at the International Conference Center of King Abdulaziz before the summit began.
Meanwhile, Hasina and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon had a meeting on the sidelines of the summit.
The Tajik President invited the PM to visit Tajikistan.
"We hope that the Tajik President could go to Bangladesh or that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh could visit Tajikistan this year," said Shahidul.
Tajikistan considers Bangladesh as a potential partner to boost trade, he added.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh also held a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak. The two leaders discussed various issues of bilateral interest, said the foreign secretary to reporters.
The press secretary of Prime Minister Ihsanul Karim and the deputy press secretary Nazrul Islam were present at the press conference.
