SC clears way for FBCCI polls



The Supreme Court paves the way for the election of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) scheduled for May 14.

The apex court today quashed an order of the High Court which, on 22 March, suspended the process to hold the FBCCI elections for two months

A three-member panel of the Appellate Division chaired by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order following a motion filed by the FBCCI authorities challenging the " Order of the High Court

.

Bar Association Imtiaz Mainul Islam, FBCCI lawyer, told the Daily Star that there is no legal barrier for the relevant authorities to hold the FBCCI elections on 14 May following , Order of the Supreme Court

.

Following a petition filed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mymensingh, Aminul Haque Shamim, the HC on March 22, the electoral process

.

Aminul Huque filed the petition saying that there are anomalies in the list of voters because his name was not included in the list.
